GONZALO CÁRCAMO is an illustrator, a caricaturist and a versatile fine artist with a mastership of the watercolor.
He has done several shows of his paintings in Brazil, Spain and in his native Chile.

At the beginning of his career Cárcamo worked for animation studios, including the Walt Disney Studio, creating background scenes for several short movies and advertising films.

In 1986 he publishes his first caricatures in the Pasquim, a weekly journal distributed nation wide in Brazil. This would be the first of many works that Cárcamo would develop for the main Brazilian newspapers and magazines, such as Istoé, Veja, Carta Capital, Época, Cult, Educação. His drawings have been published abroad as well in Apsi (Chile) and El Pais (Spain).

Cárcamo has also a very busy agenda as a children’s book illustrator for the main Brazilian publishing houses where he has illustrated the text of authors such as Garcia Marquez, Machado de Assis, Eça de Queiroz, among others.

In 2000 he released “Modelo Vivo, Natureza Morta” (Live Model, Still Life) his first picture book as an author of both illustration and story.
A compelling visual narrative.

Four years later, in 2004, he released “Aquarelas e variações sobre Paraty” (Watercolors and variations about Paraty) by Luna Publishing house.

In the following year of 2005, Cárcamo starts up a new partnership with Melhoramentos, a major Brazilian publisher, to produce two new titles: “ As lorotas da cobra Gabi” (Tricks of Gabi the snake), “A fantasia do urubu Beleza” (The fantasy of Beleza the vulture).

He is currently a regular illustrator for Follha de São Paulo, a major Brazilian newspaper, and Época magazine.
